How to Avoid Catching the COVID-19 Virus

Introduction

Over the past year since the pandemic started, people have been taking the utmost care to ensure the reduction in the spread of the virus and end the worldwide pandemic. This is why most countries have imposed government-mandated lockdowns and other safety restrictions. However, these restrictions usually aren’t enough as individual people have their limitations and habits that go against these safety precautions to make sure they don’t catch or further spread the virus. This blog lists several tips on how one can avoid contracting the virus or avoid spreading it at home and when one go outside.

Social Distancing

Because the pandemic is widespread worldwide, social distancing became one of the most implemented and effective ways to stop the spread of the virus. With this in place, people are expected to stand6 feet away from each other to prevent spreading the virus from person to person. This is because the virus spreads via the transmission of water droplets

The virus has caused many medical professionals to have to be close to their patients in a hospital setting, especially to those affected severely by the virus. It puts all of them in danger as well to be infected with the virus, which in itself is an issue that the healthcare industry has to continue to face until the pandemic has run its course.

Wearing a Mask

Wearing a mask has been one of the best ways to prevent spreading the virus, but not for the reasons you might expect. Wearing a mask helps in keeping out particles from getting to your mouth and your nose, but more importantly, it prevents you from spreading the virus to others if you were already infected with the virus. Everyone indoors now needs to wear a mask to try and prevent the spread of the virus. This is why especially healthcare workers have to wear a mask at all times as well to prevent the spread of the virus to other people.

Wash Your Hands Regularly

People need to keep their hygiene up to prevent any more spread of the virus. This is why washing your hands is more important now than ever before. We use our hands for so many things every day, and contamination from touching objects with the infectious droplets and then our faces can spread the virus.

It is very important to wash your hands regularly, especially now during the pandemic. This is especially true when someone goes outside and touches so many potentially contaminated items like unwashed groceries or money.

Taking a Bath/Shower Once Getting Inside

Despite the lockdowns imposed by many governments worldwide to help stop the spread, people still need to go outside. Whether that is to pick up supplies such as food from grocery stores or go to work if they aren’t able to do it at home. Despite the circumstances, many people are required to leave their homes for many proper reasons.

Sometimes washing just your hands isn’t enough, and you may need to sanitize more than just your hands in certain situations after you have been outside. You never know where the droplets of people who have been infected might land on a certain part of your body. So, it’s better to be safe than sorry and take a shower or bath to make sure your entire body is clean from any possible transmission areas.

Conclusion

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a devastating event to our world. It has become a huge part of our lives and we can’t do anything else but try to cope and prevent ourselves and others from catching the virus

With these measures in place such as washing your hands regularly, wearing a mask in public, social distancing and taking a shower once you get inside the house from outside, these will be the defensive habits we all have to do in order to stay healthy and safe during these trying times.

What else do you think we should do to prevent ourselves from catching the virus?
